Experience Maasai Culture
An enthralling visit to meet and learn about the culture of the Maasai tribe in Kenya.
Overview
On this exciting one-of-a-kind session, learners will travel to Kenya to meet one of the most fascinating tribes on the planet — the Maasai. The Maasai are one of the only indigenous tribes to have resisted modernisation and, to this day, retain their age-old customs and traditions.
Led by a member of the Maasai tribe, learners will gain an insight, like never before, into the lives and customs of these incredible semi-nomadic people. From cattle and warriorhood to song, beadwork and rites of passage — every part of Maasai life is rooted in a deep relationship with the land.
By the end of the session, learners will understand what it means to live with the land — not on it — and why indigenous knowledge is central to climate resilience.
What you'll take away
- Meet a member of the Maasai community in real time
- Learn about pastoralism, ritual and rites of passage
- Understand indigenous land stewardship
- See how Maasai life is adapting to climate change
