Overview

slam is second most followed region after Christianity in the world. Scholars date the creation of the religion to the 7th century which started in Mecca (modern Saudi Arabia).

Muslims consider the Quran to be the most important holy book in Islam and consider the writings as the sacred word of God. There is no single image or symbol in Islam that us universally accepted by Muslims around the world.

The prophet Muhammad is said to have buily the first mosque in the courtyard of his house in Medina. Today mosques around the world follow some of the same principles that the prophet established in 622 A.D. Muslims offer prayer in the large open space or courtyard in the mosque. Every mosque has a ‘mihirab’ – a decorative feature that shows the direction of Mecca- and the direction where worshippers face during prayer. Mosques offer prayer 5 times a day. Besides hosting prayers, mosques also function as places of public gathering.

In this live, interactive session, students will be able to visit a mosque in Bahrain with our local host. We will respectfully go around and see the beautiful architecture of the mosque and see the places of worship. This is a highly interatcive session is suitable for students of all age groups studying Religious Education.

Note: Our sessions are designed to give learners an insight into different traditional and cultural practices and do not promote any religious beliefs.
